Looking for something truly rare? Most peridot sold today is under 5 carats. This one is 28.53 carats: a single natural peridot from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), completely untreated, in a vivid warm green, cut as a long oval of 22.7 × 16.5 mm. It is large enough to be the whole design of a ring or pendant, and there is only one.

  • Vivid. Untreated. Large. Made to be remembered.
  • Natural peridot from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), 28.53 ct
  • Elongated oval, 22.7 × 16.5 × 10.4 mm
  • Vivid warm green, fully saturated; eye clean
  • Completely untreated, no treatment beyond cutting and polishing
  • A single loose natural peridot, sold unmounted

Statement ring or pendant

At this size the stone is the design. It suits a bold cocktail ring for the middle or index finger, or a pendant on a substantial chain. Peridot is Mohs 6.5 to 7, softer than sapphire, so a full or partial bezel is the best choice for a ring, and a pendant is the easiest way to wear it every day. Yellow gold deepens the green; white gold and platinum make it look cooler and brighter. The stone is 10.4 mm deep, so a standard mount will not fit it. Full measurements are available on request for your jeweller.

Jyotish

In Vedic astrology, peridot is traditionally used as an upratna (substitute stone) for emerald, the gemstone of Mercury (Budh), associated with communication, intellect and business. A large, untreated peridot is a substantial upratna. Please consult a qualified Jyotish practitioner before wearing.

For collectors

Sri Lanka is better known for sapphire than peridot, which makes a 28 ct Ceylon peridot an unusual piece for a collection of large untreated stones. The origin is stated as represented to us by our source. An independent lab report can be arranged before purchase; message us to ask.

Birthstone meaning

Peridot is the birthstone for August and the traditional gemstone for the 16th wedding anniversary, long associated with warmth, light and good fortune.

About Roho Jewels

At Roho Jewels, everything begins with the stone. Every natural gemstone we offer is hand-selected in our Toronto studio. These are real, earth-mined sapphires, rubies, emeralds and peridots, and genuine pearls, never synthetics. When a stone is untreated, we say so clearly, because you deserve to know exactly what you're buying. Our goal is simple: real gemstones, real craftsmanship and real value, without traditional retail prices.
