Buying a loose blue sapphire in Canada
Every sapphire here is a natural, earth-mined corundum, hand-selected in our Toronto studio and photographed as it is. Each listing gives the carat weight, measurements in millimetres, shape, origin where known and the treatment, so you and your jeweller know exactly what you are setting.
Ceylon, Madagascar and Thai sapphires
Ceylon (Sri Lanka) sapphires tend toward bright cornflower and light-to-medium blues. Madagascar stones range into deeper royal blue. Thai sapphires are typically darker, inky blues. Origin is stated where it is known; it describes where a stone was mined, not a grade.
Heated, unheated and filled stones
Most sapphires in the trade are heated to improve colour and clarity; this is standard and stable. Stones described as unheated have not been heated. Any stone that is glass-filled is clearly labelled as glass-filled in its title. If an independent lab finds a treatment we did not disclose, you get a full refund.
Certified sapphires
Several stones come with an AGL (Thailand) or GIA report, listed in the title. See all certified gemstones, unheated sapphires and 1930s rose cut sapphires.
Every stone ships the next business day from Toronto, fully tracked and insured, with free shipping in Canada and worldwide. Returns are accepted within 30 days in original condition.
Frequently asked questions
Are your blue sapphires natural?
Yes. Every sapphire we sell is natural and earth-mined, never synthetic. The treatment, if any, is stated on each listing.
Can you set the sapphire for me?
No. Our stones are sold loose for your own jeweller. Measurements are listed so your jeweller can plan the setting.
What is the difference between AGL and GIA reports?
Both are independent gem labs. A report confirms the stone is natural sapphire and records weight, measurements and detected treatments. The lab is named on each certified listing.
