Looking for something special? This vintage 3.01 carat natural yellow sapphire, cut between the 1960s and 1980s, comes from the old collection of a generational gemstone collector in Thailand. Stones of this colour richness rarely leave private collections, and we were lucky to find this one. It also has a quality that sets it apart from most sapphires at any price: it's loupe clean, with no inclusions visible even under 10x magnification. Combined with a vivid, deep golden yellow colour and strong saturation, it's a true engagement-grade stone. It's ideal as the center stone of an engagement ring, solitaire, statement ring or pendant, and for jewelers and jewelry makers.
- Natural. Brilliant. Golden. Made to be remembered.
- Vintage natural yellow sapphire (Pukhraj), 3.01 ct, oval, cut between the 1960s and 1980s
- Loupe clean, with no inclusions visible under 10x magnification
- Deep, saturated golden yellow with warm honey undertones
- An engagement ring center stone and a jewelry making gemstone
- A vintage loose natural yellow sapphire, earth-mined and sold unmounted, from a generational private collection in Thailand. Treated with standard heat only. There is only one of this stone.
Why loupe clean matters
Natural inclusions are the norm in earth-mined gemstones. No inclusions visible even under 10x magnification means maximum brilliance and light return. At 3 carats with vivid golden colour, that combination is what makes this an engagement-grade stone.
The colour
A deep, saturated golden yellow with warm honey undertones. It glows in daylight and warm light alike, and it looks stunning in yellow gold, where the metal deepens the warmth, or in white gold and platinum for a bright contrast.
For the engagement ring buyer
Yellow sapphire is a beautiful, durable alternative to a yellow diamond. At Mohs 9, it's hard enough for everyday wear. The 9.9 × 7.3 mm oval suits a solitaire, halo or three-stone setting.
For the Jyotish & Vedic astrology buyer
In Vedic astrology, yellow sapphire is Pukhraj, the gemstone of Jupiter (Guru), traditionally associated with wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. This stone is natural and earth-mined, loupe clean, and a substantial 3.01 ct. Please note that it has been treated with standard heat, which some Jyotish practitioners prefer to avoid. Consult a qualified Jyotish practitioner before wearing.
A gemstone for him: the men's signet ring
At Roho Jewels, we believe men deserve beautiful gemstones too. A natural golden yellow sapphire set into a signet ring is a bold, personal alternative to a plain metal signet: one-of-a-kind, full of character, and a ring he'll wear for decades and one day pass down.
- Signet face: at 9.9 × 7.3 mm, this stone suits a signet face of about 13–16 mm (most men choose a face of about 15–18 mm), great on the ring or middle finger
- Setting: flush (gypsy), bezel or half-bezel keeps it low and smooth, with no claws to catch on sleeves or gloves
- Depth: the stone is 4.6 mm deep, so ask your jeweler for a signet head at least 5.6 mm deep
- Metal: rich in yellow gold, sharp in white gold or platinum, rugged in oxidised sterling silver
- Wear: Mohs 9, second only to diamond, so it is tough enough for a ring worn every day
- Made for: a ring he'll wear every day, or to mark a wedding, a graduation or a milestone birthday
Birthstone meaning
Sapphire is the birthstone for September and has long been a symbol of wisdom, loyalty and lasting love.
Perfect for
An engagement ring, solitaire, statement ring or pendant of your own design, a Jyotish Pukhraj or a men's signet, set by your jeweler or a jewelry maker: a natural choice for a September birthstone or an anniversary you're marking.
