Looking for something truly unusual? This is a matched pair of natural orange sapphires from Sri Lanka, hand-cut in the 1930s in the tapered "bullet" shape of the Art Deco era. Their vivid orange-red glows like hot embers, and you won't find this cut in modern calibrated stones. They're made for a jewelry designer, a maker or anyone planning a one-of-a-kind pair of Art Deco earrings or a three-stone ring. This is our larger pair, with deeper, more saturated colour than our 1.06 ct pair.

  • Vintage. Fiery. Matched. Made to be remembered.
  • Matched pair of natural Ceylon orange sapphires, 1.56 ct total (0.80 + 0.75 ct)
  • Bullet cut, hand-cut in the 1930s Art Deco era, about 7.8 mm long
  • Vivid fiery orange-red with golden undertones
  • Ideal as a matched gemstone pair for earrings or as side stones for a three-stone ring
  • A matched pair of loose natural orange sapphires, sold unmounted. Both stones were cut by hand in the 1930s and selected as a pair for their shape and colour. There is only one of this pair.

The Art Deco cut

Bullet cuts were a signature of 1920s and 1930s Art Deco jewelry, when geometric shapes and strong lines were in fashion. Old hand-cut stones like these have slightly individual facets, which is part of their charm.

Colour under different light

  • Daylight: Deep vivid orange with fiery red flashes
  • Warm indoor light: Rich amber-orange glow
  • Candlelight: Intense ember red
  • Flash: Bright geometric flashes from the bullet facets

Design ideas

  • Long drop earrings, where the bullet shape adds length
  • East-west bezel earrings that show off the elongated shape
  • Side stones flanking a center diamond in a three-stone ring
  • Matching pendants or rings
  • Yellow or rose gold settings to warm up the orange-red

Perfect for

A pair of Art Deco earrings or the side stones of a three-stone ring, for designers, makers and anyone who loves vintage jewelry.
