Our pearls are genuine, including Tahitian pearls grown in black-lipped oysters in French Polynesia. Pearl is the June birthstone. At 2.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale pearls are soft: put them on last and wipe them after wearing. Each listing states any treatment.
