Looking for an emerald as close as possible to how nature made it? Almost every emerald on the market is oiled or resin-filled to hide its natural inclusions. This one has at most a trace of oil and no resin. It's a natural Colombian emerald with minor to no oil and no resin or other treatment, and a rich, vivid green. At almost a carat, it's a classic oval size for an engagement ring that's a little different, with a story behind it.
- Natural. Minor to no oil. Colombian green. Made to be remembered.
- Checked in-house by Roho Jewels; no independent lab report. Comes with our genuine guarantee and the Roho Jewels lifetime guarantee.
- Natural Colombian emerald, 0.95 ct oval, 7.2 × 6.0 mm
- Minor to no oil: at most a trace of oil, with no resin and no other treatment
- Rich vivid green, Muzo colour grade
- A classic oval size for an engagement ring that's a little different
- A loose natural emerald from Colombia, sold unmounted. There is only one of this stone.
Why "minor to no oil" matters
Oiling is the standard, accepted treatment for emerald, and it's used on almost every stone sold. An emerald with minor to no oil shows close to its true clarity and colour, with little or nothing to wear away over time.
Why Colombia
Colombia has produced fine emeralds for centuries. This stone has the warm, vivid green the trade calls a Muzo colour grade, named after Colombia's most famous mine (colour grade only; the specific mine is not specified).
For the engagement ring buyer
- Almost 1 carat, a classic oval centre stone
- 7.2 × 6.0 mm, a standard setting size that fits ready-made oval settings
- Lovely in a solitaire, a halo or set east-west
- Yellow gold warms the green, and white gold or platinum gives a crisp contrast
- Emerald is softer than sapphire, so a protective setting such as a bezel or a halo is a good choice for everyday wear
A gemstone for him: the men's signet ring
At Roho Jewels, we believe men deserve beautiful gemstones too. A natural Colombian emerald set into a signet ring is a bold, personal alternative to a plain metal signet: one-of-a-kind, full of character, and a ring he'll wear for decades and one day pass down.
- Signet face: at 7.2 × 6 mm, this stone suits a signet face of about 11–14 mm, a classic small signet or pinky ring
- Setting: flush (gypsy), bezel or half-bezel keeps it low and smooth, with no claws to catch on sleeves or gloves
- Depth: the stone is 3.6 mm deep, so ask your jeweler for a signet head at least 4.6 mm deep
- Metal: rich in yellow gold, sharp in white gold or platinum, rugged in oxidised sterling silver
- Wear: Mohs 7.5–8. A flush or bezel setting protects the edges, making it ideal for a dress signet or careful everyday wear
- Perfect for: everyday wear, a wedding day, a graduation, a milestone birthday, or simply a signet he chooses for himself
Birthstone meaning
Emerald is the birthstone for May and the traditional gemstone for 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries, long a symbol of love, renewal and loyalty.
Perfect for
A classic oval centre stone for your own engagement ring, a pendant, or a men's signet. And a natural choice if May is your birth month or you're marking a 20th or 35th anniversary.
