Jeweller or designer? Trade enquiries
For jewellery designers and collectors
These stones were cut by hand in Sri Lanka in the 1930s and never set. Designers use them for Art Deco revival rings, estate-style earrings and side stones; collectors buy them for the cut itself. Each listing gives the weight, measurements, era, colour and treatment, and shows the exact stone in daylight photos and video.
Rose cut or bullet cut?
- Rose cut: a flat base and a domed top covered in triangular facets. It glows softly rather than sparkling, and it needs a bezel or rub-over setting made for a flat base, not a standard prong head.
- Bullet cut: a tapered baguette with a pointed end, the defining side-stone shape of 1930s jewellery. Matched bullet pairs suit drop earrings and three-stone rings.
- Antique yellow sapphires: unheated Ceylon stones from an estate collection, also sought as Pukhraj for Jyotish.
Setting notes
Old cuts are not calibrated, so have your jeweller fit the mount to each stone. Every listing includes measurements; ask us for more photos or a size reference before you buy.
Frequently asked questions
Are these stones treated?
Sapphires are standard heat unless the listing says unheated. Every treatment is stated on the listing.
Do they come with a certificate?
Vintage stones rarely carry a lab report; the listing says when one is included. If an independent lab finds an undisclosed treatment, you get a full refund.
Every stone ships the next business day from Toronto, fully tracked and insured, with free worldwide shipping. Returns are accepted within 30 days in original condition.
