Buying guide & FAQ

Unheated sapphires and untreated gemstones

Most sapphires on the market are heated. Unheated stones keep the colour they formed with, which many collectors and Jyotish buyers prefer. Every stone in this collection is described as unheated or untreated on its listing, and if an independent lab finds a treatment, you get a full refund.

Neelam and Pukhraj

Blue sapphire (Neelam) and yellow sapphire (Pukhraj) are traditionally worn in Jyotish. We list weights in both carats and ratti. Please consult a qualified Jyotish practitioner before wearing.

Collector stones

The collection also includes large untreated stones such as Ceylon peridot, amethyst and a natural brown diamond, each described stone by stone. Browse yellow sapphires and Jyotish gemstones.

Every stone ships the next business day from Toronto, fully tracked and insured, with free shipping in Canada and worldwide. Returns are accepted within 30 days in original condition.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know a sapphire is unheated?

Each stone is checked in-house and described on its listing. Lab reports can be arranged on request, and our refund guarantee applies if a lab finds heat treatment.

Are unheated sapphires better?

Not necessarily more beautiful, but unheated stones are less common and preferred by many collectors and Jyotish buyers.
